Donald Trump Search Warrant Released - Update, What It Means

On August 8, 2022, the FBI searched the Mar-a-Lago with a warrant to find classified documents owned by Former President Donald Trump. According to U.S. codes 793, 2071, and 1519, any mishandling of classified documents, such as the destruction of classified documents, the gathering of classified national security documents, and fabrication of classified documents, can incriminate Trump and charge him with a fine and time in prison. The National Archive confirms that there were classified documents confiscated from the Mar-a-Lago.

What does that mean for Trump?

Well, to put it simply, it means Trump would be having an awful day. See, once a president leaves office, they are automatically a citizen again. So if a citizen has possessions of classified documents that are supposed to be only seen by high-ranking officials, they are a criminal. That should include a former president. The warrant was released to the public, showing that at least the FBI found 11 sets of classified documents in Trump's home. However, NBC argues that those classified documents were declassified during the Trump administration, although they provide arguments saying whether Trump did or didn't declassify those documents.

That is a whole different discussion that will be discussed in this week's Weekly Analysis.

We await further news.
