Letter Bombs Sent Across Spain - What We Know

On November 24, 2022, a letter bomb was sent and then intercepted to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. It is one of currently six known bombs that were sent throughout Spain. Since Wednesday, similar letter bombs were sent to the US Embassy, a weapons manufacturer, an air force base, the defense ministry, and the Ukrainian Embassy. Only one employee was minorly injured during the Ukrainian Embassy bombing. The bomb sent to the Ukrainian Embassy was addressed to the Ukrainian ambassador, Sergi Pohoreltsev.

The bombs are said to have had pyrotechnic material, which means they were made to explode to spread fire.

Ukraine was quick to assume that Russia was the instigator of what occurred. Spain, however, has not yet definitively claimed where it originated or if it was related to the Ukraine war. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba ordered all Ukrainian embassies to strengthen security.

We await further news.
