The leader of the South Korean Democratic Party, Jae-Myung Lee, had apparently gotten stabbed on January 2nd, 2024, by an individual who pretended to ask for his autograph. Lee was visiting the southern port city of Busan.
The knife used was around 18 cm (7 inches). The assailant had lunged towards Lee, stabbing him with the blade.

This photo shows that the stab was not a short one. The assailant's right hand had touched Lee's neck.
The attack was left non-fatal as Lee was left with a 1 cm (~.3 inches) laceration. Some individuals put into question the likelihood of this attack being serious.

According to Yonhap News, the Korean Democratic Party ordered to shut down any unconfirmed rumors or theories that may arise about the stabbing.
